Ladies, if you see one of your single guy friends while running...Please, by all means...Don't do something silly like give him a BIG GOOFY HUG!! ; )
Now, time to get out there and run. Seems like I've done more runs than bike races lately. A nice 10k a couple weeks ago and then an 8k this last Sunday morning with my friend Paul. Which by the way, I met a girl at the 10k.
Here's my little rant about that:
The girl and I were chatting back and forth during the run then at the end I asked for her number and she gave it to me. So, what do I do but call her a couple days later right? Yeah, that was last week. Has she called back? NO, not even to say "no thanks". Why do girls give out their phone number if they have no intentions of seriously returning the call? Lame. I think I'm going to start a list of girls numbers on every mens room wall across the city if they give out their number under false pretenses. Yes, this has happened to me multiple times. Trust me, you won't hurt the guys feelings by being up front and telling him you're not interested. Or even lie and tell the guy you are dating someone. Case closed each goes about their way. And guys, if you're interested in these deadbeat girls number let me know. : )
Okay so enough of the ranting...
Last Sunday morning was the 5k/8k Cliff Drive run. It was a benefit for the Gladstone Elementary School, there were over 900 runners and walkers of all ages. The weather was more than perfect for an early November 1st morning. After the run I headed to Lawrence for the cross race. Daylight savings time threw off my internal clock because I got there WAY too early. I didn't race till 2:45 so I sat around for 3+ hours.
Not very many people attended the race, I guess they all raced Saturday and stayed out late for Halloween the night before. The Cat 3's only had 11 starters. It was a great race, I love that course. Fast and technical. Not a lot of silly twisty 180's, just one deep sand pit immediately following a zig zag that nearly brought the bike to a dead stop. So dismounting at a complete stand still then running through the sand was sucky. Oh, and this was only 20 yards or so from the fast 50 yard road sprint finish. The finish that I botched and lost my 4th place finish during the last few yards. Just....couldn't...crank...enough.... ; (
Next CX race is this next Sat in Topeka. NIGHT RACE, under the big lights at the dirt track. YEAH. Bring it on!! See you all there.
Oh and next run...I think it's Nov 22nd. Gobbler Grind or something like that. See you there also!
