I'm interested in running 5K's this year and doing them in less than 20min. I started looking around the internet at ways to accomplish this. Train here, jog there, run 30+ miles per week.... all that's good and will help me physically, but there's still something missing? The mental factor!
During my internet searching on how to become a faster 5K runner, I came across a lot of info on what shoes to wear and if lightweight racing flats make a difference. Finding site after site, blogs and forums about people's opinions on the best way to run faster, racing flats seemed to be the thing for me. The most universal, conclusive way most people would do to become a faster runner...was to lose weight. Well, I don't have much to lose, so that's out of the question. Gotta' get me a pair of those racing flats.
Went down to Garry Gribbles to ask questions and see what these racing flats were really like. I was impressed, there's actually plenty of cushion in most. I did try on one pair of Nike's that felt like I was running with cardboard strapped to my feet. They weren't much lighter, so went with the cushy Nike LunaRacers! These things are i
nsane, only 5.9oz each (on sale by the way). Even if they don't shave minutes off my time, I'll sure feel faster and hopefully less fatigued overall. But we all know, it's not really about how you finish, but how good you look getting there. :)
